QUEENS, NY – Queens Borough President Melinda Katz and the Marshall Family will host a special event to honor the life and legacy of The Honorable Helen M. Marshall on Sunday, March 19, 2017 from 3:00 – 6:00pm.

Helen Marshall was a larger-than-life figure in the civic life of Queens, the City and State of New York, having served in the New York State Assembly (1983-1991), the New York City Council (1992-2001) and as Queens Borough President (2002-2013). During her decades in public life, Helen fought tenaciously to improve our children’s schools, to address seemingly intractable quality-of-life issues and to secure a fair share of City resources for Queens. As the first African American borough president of Queens and only the second woman to be elected to the position, Helen Marshall was a trailblazer who inspired many to pursue public service.

The event is open to the public. People are kindly asked to RSVP at www.queensbp.org/rsvp.
