QUEENS, NY – Queens Borough President Donovan Richards Jr.’s inaugural “Borough Hall on Your Block” initiative continues tomorrow, Wednesday, August 24, in Southeast Queens, with the Borough President hosting a youth festival in Cambria Heights and a resource fair for NYCHA residents in South Jamaica and an emergency preparedness giveaway in Springfield Gardens.

Borough President Richards’ inaugural Queens Youth & Young Adult Festival will be held in Cabbell Park in Cambria Heights from 12pm to 4pm. Co-sponsored by City Council Member Nantasha Williams, the festival will be a day of fun and empowerment as we celebrate the next generation of borough leaders. Activities will include a basketball clinic courtesy of nonprofit organization WhosHouseBallers, live entertainment, children’s games, free food, a backpack distribution, additional giveaways, and more.

In addition, the Borough President’s NYCHA Resource Share will be held from 12pm to 3pm in the playground of South Jamaica Houses at the corner of 107-48 160th Street in South Jamaica. Residents are invited to meet representatives from the Borough President’s office to learn about the various City services and resources available to members of the community. The Resource Share will be held in partnership with NYC Council Speaker Adrienne Adams, Congress Member Greg Meeks, State Senator Leroy Comrie, NYCHA, the NYC Human Resources Administration, the NYC Administration for Children’s Services, IDNYC, Elmcor, Fathers Alive in the Hood and Phoenix House.

With the peak of hurricane season approaching, Borough President Richards will also host an Emergency Preparedness Supply Giveaway from 9am to 3pm at the basketball courts within Springfield Park. Supplies to be distributed to residents for free include rain barrels and emergency plan guides. The giveaway is held in partnership with the NYC Department of Environmental Protection and NYC Emergency Management.
