$8+ million project will deliver high-quality open space to Cambria Heights

QUEENS, NY – In keeping with their commitments to reverse decades of disinvestment in Southeast Queens, Queens Borough President Donovan Richards and Council Member Nantasha Williams will host a press conference tomorrow, October 11, at 11am to announce more than $8 million in combined funding to renovate Delphin H. Greene Playground in Cambria Heights.

The press conference will take place at the playground, located on 237th Street between 120th and 121st Avenues adjacent to P.S. 176, and will feature remarks from Borough President Richards and Council Member Williams, along with representatives from P.S. 176 and local civic organizations.

The allocation — which includes $3.9 million in funding from Borough President Richards — will go toward the modernization of the playground, complete with new play equipment, paving, fencing, a spray shower, adult fitness equipment and a passive seating area.

Fiscal Year 2024 is the Richards Administration’s largest single-year total of investment in Queens parks, with $20.2 million being allocated toward improving open space. Since he took office, Borough President Richards has allocated $36.6 million toward parks — with the Delphin H. Greene Playground project alone representing more than 10 percent of that total.

Members of the media who wish to attend the press conference are asked to RSVP via email at [email protected] or via phone at 718-286-2640.
