QUEENS, NY – In commemoration of World Mental Health Day on October 10 and in recognition of the mental health crisis afflicting our society, Borough President Donovan Richards Jr. will host a press conference on Tuesday, October 11 at 11am at Elmcor Youth & Adult Activities in Corona to announce a $2 million partnership with therapy platform BetterHelp, bringing free mental health services to The World’s Borough.

The $2 million worth of services provided by BetterHelp — the nation’s leading virtual mental health therapy platform — will be split among 10 different community-based organizations from across Queens. Each CBO will receive $175,000 worth of services to make available across their networks, with the remaining $250,000 being distributed to constituents in the coming weeks and months at the discretion of the Queens Borough President’s Office.

“It’s OK to not be OK, but no one should struggle or suffer in silence. In this borough, we uplift and offer a helping hand to our neighbors,” said Borough President RICHARDS. “As someone who attends therapy myself, I’m proud to partner with BetterHelp and 10 of our most dedicated CBOs to connect our families with these critical mental health services. Improving the health and wellness of our borough is and will always be my top priority.”

Members of the media who wish to attend the press conference are asked to RSVP by emailing [email protected] or calling 718-286-2640.
