QUEENS, NY – In honor of Women’s Herstory Month and the luminary women of Queens upon whose shoulders we stand, Queens Borough President Donovan Richards Jr. will host a virtual celebration on Wednesday, March 16 at 6pm, featuring a panel discussion with female leaders from across the borough to highlight the critical work of those who continue to make change today.

“Countless trailblazers call or have called Queens home, heroes who have paved the way for future generations of borough women in all aspects of society. On Wednesday and throughout March, we will rightfully honor them,” said Borough President RICHARDS. “This month also offers us a chance to celebrate the ordinary women in our lives who do extraordinary things for our families and our communities each day, like the Queens women in the fields of business, civic life, art and health and wellness whom we’ll hear from this week. We hope you’ll join us as we recognize and uplift women across the spectrum in The World’s Borough and beyond.”

Led by Borough President Richards’ Gender Justice Coordinator, Ariella Davidov, the panel discussion will feature women from across the spectrum to discuss their careers, their best self-care practices, how to further empower women and femmes in all facets of society and how Queens played a major role in their professional and personal lives.

With the help of Kew and Willow Books, a women-owned independent bookstore in Kew Gardens, the Queens Borough President’s Office launched a social media campaign to further support and recognize the women of Queens by releasing lists of women-owned businesses and female authors in the borough each Monday, while highlighting iconic women of Queens each Friday. The office is also asking community members to participate by submitting their favorite women-owned businesses or artists in Queens via the Borough President’s official social media channels.

Members of the public who wish to attend can RSVP at www.queensbp.org/rsvp. The meeting will also be live-streamed to the public on the Borough President’s website at www.queensbp.org.
