QUEENS, NY – The future of New York City is being “Built in Queens.” On Friday, April 28 at 10am, Queens Borough President Donovan Richards will take the Queens Theatre stage and give his 2023 State of the Borough address, highlighting his administration’s historic investments across the spectrum of society over the past year and outlining his holistic vision for creating that prosperous future for all Queens families.

“With historic investments in healthcare, housing and infrastructure — both physical and societal — being made in every corner of Queens, the borough we are building together is one rooted in equity, justice and prosperity for all our families,” said Borough President RICHARDS. “Queens has seen so much growth in the last few years, and we’re just getting started. I’ll see you this Friday to discuss all that we’ve accomplished in the last year and all that we will achieve together as one borough in the years to come.”

Diving deep into building more affordable housing, expanding access to high-quality health care for all and making Queens a leader in clean energy and technology, among other topics, Borough President Richards will deliver his State of the Borough address in-person at the Queens Theatre in Flushing Meadows Corona Park. Doors will open to members of the public and the press at 9:30am, while the program will begin at approximately 10am.

The program will begin with a short film, created by New York City-based production company Reframe The World, highlighting the real-world impacts of the Borough President’s high profile investments in healthcare, housing and infrastructure. Following the video presentation, attendees will enjoy a diverse array of musical and dance performances, courtesy of the NYPD Guardians Association, the Calpulli Mexican Dance Company and Braata folk singers.

The list of officials who will offer remarks prior to Borough President Richards’ State of the Borough address includes, but is not limited to, New York State Attorney General Letitia James, New York City Council Speaker Adrienne Adams, Deputy Queens Borough President Ebony Young and Queens Theatre Executive Director Taryn Sacramone.

This year’s State of the Borough program is sponsored by JetBlue, Delta, the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey and Resorts World.
