QUEENS DISTRICT ATTORNEY MELINDA KATZ TO SPEAK AT QUEENS BOROUGH CABINET MEETING

QUEENS, NY –The Queens Borough Cabinet, chaired by Queens Borough President Donovan Richards Jr., will hold an in-person meeting today, Tuesday, December 5, at 9:30 AM.

The meeting will include remarks from Queens County District Attorney Melinda Katz, who will introduce a presentation from her office’s Frauds Bureau about fraud prevention.

The Frauds Bureau investigates and prosecutes crime related to embezzlement, investment scams, insurance fraud, online scams, confidence schemes, trademark counterfeiting, environmental crimes, tax fraud, unemployment fraud, worker’s compensation fraud, section 8 housing fraud, SNAP benefit fraud, and financial crimes targeting the elderly. The presentation will discuss preventative measures that can help people avoid becoming victimized by scams.

The meeting will also include an open floor discussion from City agency heads regarding recent developments at their agencies.

This meeting will be conducted in-person in the Borough President’s second-floor conference room at Queens Borough Hall, located at 120-55 Queens Boulevard in Kew Gardens. The meeting will also be live-streamed to the public on the Borough President’s website at www.queensbp.org and on the Borough President’s YouTube page.
