Queens Borough President Melinda Katz will be joined by local veterans as she presents representatives from the United War Veterans Council (UWVC) — the producers of the annual NYC Veterans Day Parade — with cards and gifts donated by members of the Queens community.

The presentation will take place Monday, February 10, at 3:00 p.m. in the lobby of Queens Borough Hall, 120-55 Queens Blvd., Kew Gardens.  Later on the UWVC will deliver those donated items to the Saint Albans Veterans Hospital as part of the UWVC’s annual Valentine’s Day Caravan, which collects and delivers thousands of donated cards and gifts to military members, veterans and their families at veterans’ hospitals and military bases in New York City, Long Island, New Jersey and Bethesda, Maryland.

Borough President Katz partnered with the UWVC to place a drop-box for donations in the lobby of Queens Borough Hall.  Borough Hall employees and members of the public have been dropping off gifts in the box since it was placed there February 1.

UWVC drop boxes have also been set up in other locations in each borough.
