QBP RICHARDS ON TEMPORARY PROTECTED STATUS DECLARATION FOR UKRAINIAN NATIONALS

(March 4, 2022 at 12pm)

QUEENS, NY – Queens Borough President Donovan Richards Jr. stated the following in response to the Biden Administration’s March 3 declaration of Temporary Protected Status for Ukrainian nationals in the United States for the next 18 months, in the wake of Russia’s vicious and deadly invasion of Ukraine.

“Queens welcomes with open arms all Ukrainian families fleeing Vladimir Putin’s horrific and vile war, which in just one week has claimed thousands of lives and displaced more than 1 million innocent people. Queens also stands in firm solidarity with all our Ukrainian American neighbors who are already in the United States, and we applaud President Biden for quickly extending Temporary Protected Status protections to those individuals,” said Borough President RICHARDS. “There is no more diverse or welcoming place in the world than The World’s Borough, and Queens stands ready to proudly welcome any Ukrainian refugee seeking the safety and security they deserve. We will stop at no length to ensure families fleeing war are given the support structure they need during this unimaginably difficult crisis.”
