Come Tour the BHS Castle in Fort Totten @ Bayside Historical Society

Beginning in 2024, Bayside Historical Society staff and volunteers will offer guided tours of The Castle and its exhibitions on the second Sunday of each month from 1pm-3pm. Tours are approximately 45 minutes long; there will be two tours offered, the first beginning at 1pm and the second at 2pm. Reserve your spot in advance for the March 10th tour by registering on the BHS website: www.baysidehistorical.org/events-1/come-tour-the-bhs-castle-4

The Castle is one of the finest surviving examples in New York City of the Gothic Revival castellated style architecture. Completed in 1887, the building served as the base Officers’ Mess Hall and Club for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers School of Application. Come in and find out more about this architectural treasure in Bayside, Queens.

About the Speakers:
Thomas Farrell is a lawyer with a great deal of experience with contracts, employment matters, and regulatory compliance. He offers a combination of programs and practices to owners of small- and medium-sized businesses, largely designed to prevent them from being sued or from being investigated by government agencies.

Roy Pellicano ran an IT services company for over 15 years working with small and mid-sized businesses across all industries, from the single computer Mom & Pop to the 63 location company. In addition to supporting IT, Roy advises business teams developing and implementing strategy across the business lifecycle from start-up to exit, including how to implement business and technology transformation.

Borough President Richards Hosts a Land Use Hearing @ Queens Borough Hall

A Public Hearing on land use will be held by the Borough President of Queens, Donovan Richards Jr., on Thursday, March 14, 2024 starting at 9:30 a.m. The public hearing will be virtually streamed live at www.queensbp.org and held in-person in the Borough President’s Conference Room located at 120-55 Queens Boulevard, Kew Gardens, New York 11424.

Those who wish to testify may preregister for virtual speaking time by visiting www.queensbp.org/landuse and submitting their contact information through the preregistration link. After preregistering, the speaker will receive a confirmation e-mail with instructions on how to participate in the virtual public hearing. Preregistration for speaking time can also be arranged by calling (718) 286-2860 between 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. prior to the date of the hearing.

Members of the public may also attend the hearing at the above address and publicly testify in the Conference Room.

Written testimony is welcome from those who are unable to testify virtually. All written testimony must be received by 5:00 p.m. on March 14,  2024 and may be submitted by e-mail to [email protected] or by conventional mail sent to the Office of the Queens Borough President at 120-55 Queens Boulevard – Room 226, Kew Gardens, NY 11424.
