21st Annual Totten Trot 5K Foot Race & Kids' Fun Run
Time: Check in at 7:30am; start at 9:00am Entry Fee: $30 through midnight October 15; $35 through October 29; $40 on race day Bayside Historical Society's annual Totten Trot 5K Run/Walk is a Halloween-themed, waterfront course in historic Fort Totten Park on Little Neck Bay in Bayside, a pristine stretch surrounding a preserved Civil War fortress. Runners will pass through the Historic District, which consists of buildings dating to the late 1800s. The Fort is situated where the Long Island Sound meets the East River at the Throgs Neck Bridge. The start and finish are located at the landmarked Officers' Club ("The Castle"), home of Bayside Historical Society. The course includes a loop out onto Little Bay Path to the Throgs Neck Bridge and back to the Fort. Timing and scoring are provided by elitefeats on a USATF Certified Course. The Kids' Fun Run at 10:00am is a short-distance sprint for tiny tots and kids up to 12, grouped by age category. Halloween costumes highly encouraged for both adults and kids! Amenities & Awards for the 5K race include: Cash prizes for top three overall male and female winners, 1st place trophies & 2nd place and 3rd place medals, $50 Value Gift Certificate for Best Costume Award, T-shirts to those registered 3 weeks before race day, and raffle prizes open to all registered runners. Special "Cookie Medals" for participants in the Fun Run! After the race, there will be a presentation of awards at the historic landmarked Castle. This year's Totten Trot 5K is dedicated to your good health! Bayside Historical Society is pleased to partner with Parker Jewish Institute to provide a special Health and Wellness Exhibition as part of this year's event. Healthcare professionals from Parker Jewish Institute will be on hand to share information about local services and support and resources to keep you moving forward.
