As of Friday, October 6, 2023, Animal Care Centers of NYC (ACC) has had to temporarily close its doors to dog surrenders due to reaching critical capacity. We want to emphasize that while we are currently unable to accept dog surrenders, ACC remains open for several essential services, including drop-off of animals requiring emergency medical care, those posing a public safety risk, and animals dropped off by government agencies. For more detailed information, we encourage constituents to visit our FAQ page at www.nycacc.ogr/critical-capacity.
ACC is also open for adoptions, to help further more adoptions, ACC has recently expanded adoption hours at our largest locations in Manhattan & Brooklyn, and we have partnered with Adopt A Pet this month for waived fee adoptions in honor of “Adopt a Shelter Pet” month (please note that NYC dog licensing or spay/neuter deposit fees are not included in the promo for dogs). We believe this initiative will help more animals find their forever homes and in turn reduce the over-populated shelters.
Furthermore, ACC is actively seeking foster volunteers, offering orientations for both large dogs and cats this coming Sunday, October 15th. Constituents interested in fostering can find additional information at www.nycacc.org/get-involved/foster
At ACC we deeply appreciate your support and patience as we navigate this challenging period, and we remain committed to our mission of “ending animal homelessness in NYC.”
