BHS Summer Enrichment Program: Archeology, Come and Dig It!

The Bayside Historical Society invites kids entering grades 4-6 to experience an enrichment archeology adventure. These hands-on experiences will include scavenger hunts, craft making, site digging, fact recording, drawing, map making, storytelling, game playing, and a special tour of the Fort Totten battery. Promoting skills of observation and critical thinking while building teamwork and collaboration will create a memorable and fun-filled experience for all! SUMMER ENRICHMENT ARCHEOLOGY: WEEK I AUGUST 21 – AUGUST 25, 9:00 AM-12:00 PM Description: Kids will discover the role of various types of archeologists, use their tools and techniques, experience a simulated "dig" and be introduced to the history of local Native American life. SUMMER ENRICHMENT ARCHEOLOGY: WEEK II AUGUST 28 – SEPTEMBER 1, 9:00 AM-12:00 PM Description: Our young participants will investigate the lives of our own Matinecock tribe that inhabited Bayside by experiencing ways in which they lived by viewing and examining the artifacts on display in the Archeology Exhibit Space. Cost: $325.00 per week. $299.00 early registration by June 23rd, 2023.
