BP Richards to Host Women's Health Fair
In an effort to break down barriers to access and better connect Queens residents to the critical care they deserve this Women’s Herstory Month, Queens Borough President Richards will host a Women’s Health Fair, with a focus on reproductive health, at Queens Borough Hall on Tuesday, March 21 at 6pm. The two-pronged event will feature a resource fair led by community-based organizations operating in the spaces of healthcare and reproductive justice, connecting Queens residents with a wide array of critical services. Participating organizations include Mount Sinai Sexual Assault and Violence Intervention Program, Korean American Family Service Center, South Queens Women’s March and Arab-American Family Support Center. The evening will also include a panel discussion featuring experts from Planned Parenthood of Greater New York, Voces Latinas, and Northwell Health Long Island Jewish Forest Hills, who will speak and answer audience questions about cancer prevention and awareness, sexual health and wellness and Sexually Transmitted Infections (STI) prevention and intervention, among other topics. Additionally, Borough President Richards will honor local leaders for their impactful work in the field of health in Queens. The Women’s Health Fair is just one part of the Borough President’s Women’s Herstory Month programming, which includes his ongoing Period Product Drive this March. Items being requested during the drive include new, sealed tampons, pads, liners, menstrual cups and period underwear, which can be dropped off at Queens Borough Hall for distribution to individuals in need throughout the month. Members of the public who are interested in attending the event are asked to RSVP by visiting www.queensbp.org/RSVP.
