On May 21st from 3pm-7pm local musicians will be throwing a free music festival at the Clean Rite Center in Woodside. (50-14 Roosevelt Av) The music festival is in support of a clothing drive that will be happening on site that day. The donations collected will be given to All of Us Clothing (an organization that distributes to different charities/causes within the area) Clean Rite and the musicians are providing free laundry soap for patrons and the local Subway sandwich restaurant is donating free cookies with the hopes of attracting more participants.
When Tony Sofio (drummer for The Loosies) suggested the idea of holding a music festival/clothing drive at a Laundromat he was half joking. The band sent an email to their local Clean Rite Center anyway and were shocked to hear that not only was Clean Rite interested in listening to the suggestion, but they were also interested in helping plan the event.
Attendees will be able to contribute to a noble cause, listen to great music, pick up some free laundry soap, and enjoy cookies donated by the local Subway Restaurant. When asked why she was performing at the event Queens based artist Sara No H said “Who doesn’t love clothing drives? Good for our neighbors and our environment. Let’s gather, share resources & make some sweet music while we’re at it!” When asked about Clean Rite’s participation in the event Felicia Galitsky said “Clean Rite takes pride in making a difference in the communities we serve. We have been taking on a more active role in community initiatives and when The Loosies came to us with this, it seemed like a no brainer – we love the idea of different local businesses coming together to unite the community!”
