Hands-on History: Pet Alligators!
Rufus King was good friends with the 6th president of the United States and antislavery advocate, John Quincy Adams. He even visited Rufus and stayed in the guest room! Join us in celebrating the birthday of JQA (July 11th, 1767) by making your own craft pet alligator! JQA was gifted an alligator by French aristocrat Marquis de Lafayette and rumor has it, he kept the critter in the East Room bathtub of the White House. Hands On History is a FREE family program series held each first and third Saturday of the month at King Manor from 1-4pm.
