Kick off Press Conference for Juneteenth Festival
Local elected officials, businesses, community organizations and stakeholders, led by Assemblymember Alicia Hyndman and a team of dedicated Queens natives gear up to kick-off their second annual Juneteenth in Queens week-long Festival. Elected Officials such as Queens Congressman Gregory Meeks, Borough President Donovan Richards, Congressman Gregory Meeks, Senator James Sanders Jr, Senator Leroy Comrie, Assemblyman Khaleel Anderson, Speaker Adrienne Adams, Councilwoman Selvena Brooks-Powers & Councilwoman Nantasha Williams, including the NYS Association of Black, Puerto Rican, Hispanic & Asian Legislators are co-sponsors of the event. On June 13th, 2022 the festival will kick-off with a press conference at Borough Hall with support of Queens Borough President Donovan Richards. During the evening of the 13th, the virtual panel series premieres in partnership with Assemblymember Alicia Hyndman and Elmcor Youth & Adult Activities Inc. of Corona, NY. Included in the weeklong panels are two exciting conversations; A Lesson Not Taught In School: Black Experience of Integration in Queens co-sponsored by REBNY and Neighborhood Housing Services of Jamaica and Town Hall: Reparations with panelists such as Kirsten John Foy, Arc of Justice. On Sunday June 19th, 2022, the live festival will open the gates of Roy Wilkins Park, located on Merrick Blvd. in St. Albans, NY beginning at 12PM. All attendees must register via the festival site, for free entry at Juneteenthinqueens.com/register. A full day of stage performances for all ages will keep registrants for the live event well entertained with highlight performances by Ralph McDaniels + Friends. Attendees can also expect to experience live beauty and Father’s Day activations produced and built by digital creator and MTV Travel correspondent, Lambo Keem.
