Borough President Richards Hosts a Queens Borough Cabinet Meeting
The Queens Borough Cabinet, chaired by Queens Borough President Donovan Richards Jr., will hold a virtual meeting on Tuesday, October 6, at 9:30 AM. The meeting will feature a presentation from the New York City Department of Transportation (DOT) on the Open Streets program, which closes certain streets to vehicle traffic to make it safer and easier for pedestrians and cyclists to stay active and enjoy activities in their communities. The presentation will include a year-end recap of the program and a look ahead to 2023. The meeting will also include an update from Deputy Queens Borough President Ebony Young and Queens Economic Development Corporation (QEDC) Executive Director Seth Bornstein about the Queens Tech + Innovation Challenge. Developed by the Queens Borough President’s Office in partnership with the QEDC, the Queens Tech + Innovation Challenge is a multi-month competition for Queens-based entrepreneurs in search of funding to either launch or help grow their startups. The initiative includes entrepreneurial classes, one-on-one mentorship opportunities, and networking events to help applicants develop their pitches, which will be heard by a panel of judges next spring. This meeting will be conducted virtually with Borough Cabinet members participating via videoconference. The meeting will also be live-streamed to the public on the Borough President’s website at www.queensbp.org.
