QUEENS, NY – Nearly one year to the day after Queens’ first case of COVID-19 was confirmed in Far Rockaway, Queens Borough President Donovan Richards will present Queens’ path out of the pandemic and toward a shared future rooted in equity across the spectrum during his first State of the Borough address on Wednesday, March 3.

“Our message today to all, hear it loud and hear it proud: Queens will lead the way out of this pandemic. Queens will lead the efforts to address health disparities, economic disparities, and racial and gender disparities,” declares Borough President RICHARDS in his address. “We will create a more just society, a more just borough, and together we will improve the quality of life for all who call Queens home.”

Borough President Richards’ 2021 State of the Borough address — outlining a comprehensive vision of a borough freed of the long-standing injustices in healthcare delivery, housing, transportation, environmental policy and more — will be streamed online beginning 6:00 PM at www.queensbp.org, as well as Borough President Richards’ YouTube channel and Facebook page.

After its initial airing, the full 2021 State of the Borough program will be available for viewing on Borough President Richards’ YouTube channel, as well as at queensbp.org/SOTB2021.

Filmed at the Museum of the Moving Image in Astoria, the hour-long cinematic program will include the Presentation of Colors by the NYPD Law Enforcement Explorers’ color guard, a rendition of The Star-Spangled Banner by students from Frank Sinatra School of the Arts High School in Astoria, remarks from Deputy Borough President Rhonda Binda, and a performance by renowned Cambria Heights saxophonist Ashley Keiko, the founder of music academy Keiko Studios in Queens Village.
