QUEENS, NY – Acting Queens Borough President Sharon Lee this week announced a generous donation of 50,000 face masks from the Taiwanese Chamber of Commerce of New York (TCCNY) and facilitated by the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in New York (TECO-NY), to be distributed across dozens of Queens community-based organizations.

“As New York City carefully embarks upon the road to recovery and rebuild, our future hinges on remaining vigilant and emulating the proven best practices of maximizing safety,” said Borough President LEE. “The masks were made in Taiwan, which swiftly and effectively contained COVID-19 from the earlier stages of this global pandemic. To not learn from the measures of their success – including the universal use of face masks – would be at our own peril.  Queens County is deeply grateful to TCCNY and TECO-NY for this generous, humanitarian contribution of masks to the Borough of Families.”

“It is my great pleasure to represent the Taiwanese Chamber of Commerce of North America and the Taiwanese Chamber of Commerce of New York to donate 50,000 made-in-Taiwan masks to Queens,” said Taiwanese Chamber of Commerce of New York President JOEY CHIANG. “While New York gradually reopens, it is crucial to prevent a second wave and ensure that there are enough masks for people to protect themselves. This donation signifies the love from the Taiwanese people and shows solidarity with the borough that is home to many Taiwanese Americans.”
