QUEENS, NY – Following three wildly successful free community concerts last month, drawing hundreds of Queens families to Rockaway Beach, Travers Park and Baisley Pond Park, Queens Borough President Donovan Richards, Jr. announced today that a fourth and final performance has been added to his Queens Live! concert series, produced in partnership with NYC Parks and the Kupferberg Center for the Arts at Queens College.

Hollis Brown, a rock band founded by Queens natives and Queens College alums Mike Montali (lead vocals/guitar) and Jonathan Bonilla (lead guitar), whose releases include their latest, aptly-named album “Ozone Park,” will perform Sunday, October 10 at 3pm at Fort Totten Park in Bay Terrace. The concert, sponsored by AT&T, is free and open to the public. No registration or tickets are required.

“Our Queens Live! concert series has been an incredible hit for our communities across Queens, and we’re excited to keep the music going into October by showcasing a Queens band on the rise,” said Borough President RICHARDS. “Thank you to all our families who have attended our series of thrilling shows thus far, and we hope to see you again at Fort Totten Park on October 10.”

The free concert series began September 6 with Reggae on the Boardwalk: Rockaways Edition, taking place on the Rockaway Boardwalk. The show, attended by approximately 500 people, include performances by DJ Jah Wise, DJ Vaughn Allstar, Mighty Redeemer, Johnny Osbourne and more local artists.

Founded in Coney Island by Carter Van Pelt in 2010, the show was Reggae on the Boardwalk’s first ever concert held in Queens, following years of performances in Brooklyn and the Bronx.

Latin Grammy-winning husband and wife duo 123 Andrés next performed for hundreds of thrilled families in Jackson Heights’ Travers Park on September 12, bringing a high-energy show that got both parents and kids dancing and singing along in both Spanish and English. Hosted in honor of Hispanic Heritage Month, the concert doubled as Borough President Richards’ annual Hispanic Heritage Month Celebration.

Queens hip-hop fans next paid homage to a late rap legend on September 19 in Springfield Gardens’ Baisley Pond Park with a tribute concert honoring the iconic “Just a Friend” hit-maker Biz Markie, hosted by Video Music Box creator Ralph McDaniels and featuring the legendary Cutmaster Cool-V.
