QUEENS, NY – Queens Borough President Melinda Katz stated the following in response to the fatal shooting last night of NYPD Officer Randolph Holder who was killed in the line of duty and whose family resides in Queens:

“Officer Holder was one of our Finest, killed in the line of duty while running toward danger in the selfless mission to protect our city. Officer Holder was also an immigrant success story, having emigrated here and becoming a third-generation police officer. The borough deeply mourns this terrible loss. Our police officers deserve the utmost respect for their devotion and the very real dangers they face day-in and day-out in service. We must take care in remembering this daily, not just in the fresh tears amidst tragedy.  We must honor the heroism and ultimate sacrifice rendered by both Officer Holder and his dedicated family, who have our prayers and thoughts at this time, and who will have the City’s continuous support.”
