QBP RICHARDS TO GOVERNOR HOCHUL: REPLENISH AND REOPEN THE EXCLUDED WORKERS FUND

(December 9, 2021 at 11:15am)

QUEENS, NY – Queens Borough President Donovan Richards Jr. sent a letter to Governor Kathy Hochul yesterday, urging her to immediately invest an additional $3 billion in her executive budget to replenish and reopen the New York State Excluded Workers Fund, benefitting tens of thousands of working-class immigrant families in Queens and across the state who were unable to receive the critical financial support entitled to them during the original application period.

BP Richards writes, “There is no doubt that our excluded workers still face severe economic hardship. Even after this week’s announcement that the $2 billion fund has been fully exhausted, it is clear that a pressing need for additional financial assistance still exists here in Queens. Along with allies like Make the Road New York and the Fund Excluded Workers Coalition, I am calling on your administration to immediately invest an additional $3 billion in your executive budget to replenish the Excluded Workers Fund, benefitting tens of thousands more working-class immigrant families in Queens and statewide.”
