QBP RICHARDS TO CHAIR JOINT LAND USE HEARING AND BOROUGH BOARD MEETING

QUEENS, NY – Queens Borough President Donovan Richards Jr. will hold a joint Queens Borough Board meeting and Land Use Hearing on Monday, June 5, 2023.

The Borough Board meeting will feature a Land Use Hearing on a proposed citywide zoning text amendment entitled “City of Yes for Carbon Neutrality.” The New York City Department of City Planning will make a presentation on the proposal during the meeting and the Borough Board, chaired by Borough President Richards, is slated to vote on it after it hears public testimony.

The event will be held virtually and will be viewable on the Borough President’s website at www.queensbp.org.

Members of the public can sign up to testify by emailing [email protected] or calling 718-286-2860 and leaving a voice message, which will be returned by a member of Borough President Richards’ planning staff within 24 hours with a confirmation of speaking time.

Written testimony is welcome from those who are unable to testify during the meeting. All written testimony must be received by 5:00 p.m. on June 30th and may be submitted by e-mail to [email protected] or by conventional mail sent to the Office of the Queens Borough President at 120-55 Queens Boulevard – Room 226, Kew Gardens, NY 11424.

About the Borough Board

The Borough Board is chaired by the Borough President under the New York City Charter and comprised of the borough’s City Council members and the chairperson of each Community Board in the borough.  The Board focuses on issues dealing with land use, development, public policy, budget, and other important matters with potential borough-wide implications. The Board hears presentations from City officials and others and, as part of the land use review process, is sometimes called upon to vote on land use questions that impact more than one Community Board District.
