QUEENS, NY – Borough President Melinda Katz, in conjunction with the NonProfit HelpDesk (NPHD), is hosting a two-part, no-cost training workshop entitled “Taking Your NonProfit to the Next Level” to help empower organizations with knowledge and skills for success.

“Nonprofit organizations provide valuable services to people of The World’s Borough,” Borough President Katz said. “Oftentimes, it’s the community-based nonprofits that are the first lines of response for critical services, so we want to help strengthen their organization to ensure resources are used most effectively and efficiently.”

WHAT: “Taking Your NonProfit to the Next Level” Workshop Hosted by Borough President Katz and NPHD
WHERE: Queens Borough Hall (Borough President’s Conference Room)
120-55 Queens Boulevard, 2nd Floor
WHEN: Monday, December 8th at 6:00 – 8:00 PM.

The two-part workshop on Diversity Training and Governance will be offered by NPHD, a division of the Jewish Community Council of Greater Coney Island. The workshop will be open to the management, staff and board members of any nonprofit community service organization or business based in the Borough of Queens. “We are offering this workshop to Borough President Katz’s constituents in order to build skills and provide knowledge where organizations may not otherwise have the resources to invest in such programs,” said Chaya Abelsky, Director of NPHD. “Our goal is to give your community organizations the tools to build capacity and accelerate their impact in their communities.”

Skills that participants can expect to develop from the include:
• Leverage any kind of “difference” as a collaborative strength.

• Forge and renew valuable relationships within your staff dynamics
• Strategic Planning for Non-Profit Boards and Executives

About the NonProfit HelpDesk (NPHD)

NPHD was created in 1992 to provide technical assistance to strengthen nonprofit organizations throughout New York City. These community-based nonprofits are a vital part of the fabric of life in the City, providing youth services, cooked meals, services for the homeless, local development and cultural celebration, as well as many other services. NPHD works to strengthen these organizations by providing services, education and resources in financial management, technology, marketing and communications, and in the development of leadership, organizations and programs.
