QUEENS, NY – Queens Borough President Donovan Richards Jr. stated the following in response to JetBlue’s announcement today, August 3, that the company intends to maintain its corporate headquarters in Long Island City following the expiration of its Brewster Building lease in 2023.

“JetBlue is a valuable corporate partner here in Queens, and I am overjoyed they will keep their headquarters in Long Island City. By remaining here in Queens, our borough is connected to one of the world’s largest airlines and entrusted with thousands of jobs that will surely revitalize our economy. It was a privilege to work with Robin Hayes and the entire JetBlue team these past few months as I advocated for the airline to stay,” said Borough President RICHARDS. “Throughout the year, I remained in constant contact with both JetBlue and Port Authority of New York and New Jersey Executive Director Rick Cotton, including multiple visits to the airline’s headquarters, and I thank everyone involved for ensuring JetBlue maintains its vital, storied presence in our borough. Queens is the future of New York City, and it is a brighter future with JetBlue remaining in the fold for years to come. Queens is flying high today and open for business.”
