QBP RICHARDS, JEWISH LEADERS, ELECTEDS TO HOST VIGIL HONORING ISRAELI TERROR ATTACK VICTIMS

Tomorrow, October 9 at 1pm outside Kew Gardens Hills Library

(October 8, 2023 at 2pm)

QUEENS, NY – To honor the hundreds of innocent victims killed during Hamas’ brutal invasion of Israel this weekend and to call for lasting peace in the region, Queens Borough President Donovan Richards Jr., Jewish community leaders and elected officials will hold a community vigil tomorrow, October 9, at 1pm outside the Kew Gardens Hills branch of the Queens Public Library, located at 72-33 Vleigh Place.

Co-sponsoring the vigil are the Queens Jewish Community Council and the Jewish Community Relations Council, while elected speakers include Borough President Richards, Congress Members Gregory Meeks and Grace Meng, Queens District Attorney Melinda Katz and Council Member Jim Gennaro.

“The images out of Israel this weekend are horrific beyond words. There is absolutely no justification for the brutality on display against innocent Israeli families, and Queens unequivocally condemns Hamas’ vicious invasion,” said Borough President RICHARDS. “Our thoughts are with all those mourning the loss of a loved one or fearing for the future of their family, both in Israel and here in Queens. This savage violence must end immediately for the sake of the safety of innocent families on either side of the Israel-Palestine border.”

As of Sunday afternoon, October 8, reports state that about 600 Israelis had been killed, either by Hamas militants on the ground or by the group’s barrage of rocket attacks against various Israeli cities, while 370 Palestinians had lost their lives in the conflict.

Members of the media who wish to attend the vigil are asked to RSVP via email at [email protected] or via phone at 718-286-2640.
