QBP RICHARDS TO ANNOUNCE FUNDING FOR QUEENS COMMUNITY HOUSE AS BOROUGH HALL ON YOUR BLOCK CONTINUES

QCH’s Forest Hills Community Center to receive $1 million

(February 26, 2024 at 10am)

QUEENS, NY – As part of his effort to strengthen Queens’ network of community centers and the residents they serve, Queens Borough President Donovan Richards Jr. will host a press conference tomorrow, February 27, to announce $1 million in Fiscal Year 2024 funding for renovations at Queens Community House’s Forest Hills Community Center.

Headlining Day 2 of his ongoing “Borough Hall on Your Block: Central Queens” initiative, the 10am press conference will be held inside the Forest Hills Community Center, located at 108-25 62nd Drive. Joining Borough President Richards will be Queens Community House leadership and staff.

The Borough President’s $1 million allocation will pay for upgrades to the center’s small and aging kitchen, where upwards of hundreds of meals per day are cooked and served. The funding will not only allow kitchen staff to produce more food in a more efficient manner, but will allow for the potential creation of new culinary programming for center members of all ages.

This FY24 allocation matches Borough President Richards’ $1 million in capital funding he allocated in FY22 for prior renovations to the Forest Hills Community Center.

Members of the media who wish to cover this event are asked to RSVP by emailing [email protected] or calling 718-286-2640.
