QUEENS, NY – “Borough Hall on Your Block: Central Queens” continues tomorrow, March 1, headlined by Borough President Richards’ 12pm press conference to announce $3 million in capital funding for needed renovations to Phil Rizzuto Park in Richmond Hill.

Held inside the 95th Avenue entrance to Rizzuto Park between 126th and 127th streets, the funding announcement will detail Borough President Richards’ $3 million Fiscal Year 2024 allocation to support the reconstruction of the park’s popular but aging basketball and handball courts. Joining Borough President Richards for the press conference will be NYC Parks Queens Commissioner Jackie Langsam, as well as representatives from Queens Community Board 9 and the Friends of Phil Rizzuto Park.

The $3 million in funding for Rizzuto Park is the Borough President’s second-largest allocation made to a parks project in Fiscal Year 2024, in which more than $20.2 million in funding was earmarked. Over the course of his administration, Borough President Richards has allocated more than $36.6 million to Queens parks and open spaces.

Day 5 of Borough Hall on Your Block: Central Queens will also include a Youth Opportunities Fair and Mixer from 11am to 4pm at Richmond Hill High School. The goal of the fair is to connect young people with summer youth employment services, internships, volunteering opportunities and more.

Finally, Borough President Richards’ Constituent Services department will hold mobile office hours from 11am to 3pm at the Chhaya Community Development Corporation’s Richmond Hill office, located at 121-18 Liberty Avenue, 2nd Floor.

Members of the media who wish to attend the press conference or any other public-facing event are asked to RSVP by emailing [email protected] or calling 718-286-2640.
